Job Description

As an Apprentice - Valve Technician at SGS IVE, based in Hamilton, you will learn from the experienced team and develop the skills necessary to become a qualified Valve Technician.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent school leaver, with a passion for industrial engineering to gain the required skills and competence to gain a Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (Level 4).

What you'll be doing

  • Learn all aspects of the valve overhaul and repair work undertaken by SGS-IVE including work on customer’s sites
  • Carry out valve refurbishments as required under appropriate supervision
  • Undertake training and customer inductions to enable you to work at SGS-IVE’s customer’s sites
  • Clean and maintain SGS-IVE spaces and machinery
  • Undertake training and testing as specified by the Workshop Supervisor or Branch Manager

Qualifications

  • A passion for industrial engineering and a desire to develop your valve servicing skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to follow technical manuals and instructions
  • Good communication and customer service skills to liaise with clients
  • Willingness to learn and expand your knowledge through hands-on training and education
  • NZ drivers licence
