He angitūtanga: The opportunity

 

An opportunity has arisen to work as a Library & Council Service Assistant in the Franklin Local Board. This is a Permanent 22 hour per week position that includes weekend days and late nights.

Franklin Community Hub are based across two main sites: Pukekohe site – a fully integrated library and arts team (Franklin Arts Centre and Pukekohe Library and council services); Waiuku site (Waiuku Library and Community Space).

 

We are seeking an individual to support our integrated mahi. In this customer-focused role, you will contribute to the day-to-day operations of our front-line services across all our spaces. Your active involvement will ensure that patrons have an exceptional visitor and customer experience.

 

Each day will bring a large variety of tasks, from assisting customers with library services to handling council inquiries related to rates and dog registration, community programming, art exhibitions, digital troubleshooting, and providing general local information.

Here’s the list of qualifications we’re seeking:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with people from all walks of life, tamariki, and rangatahi
  • Confident with technology and able to support customers in successfully using information resources and devices
  • An understanding and appreciation of the role that both the arts and libraries have in community development.
  • Knowledge/understanding of Te Ao Māori or a willingness to learn
  • Willingness to support the delivery of programs and events in the local board area
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and ability to work well under pressure
  • A second language is very desirable but not necessary
