Mō te tūranga - About the role

 

The purpose of the role is to help minimise ANZ's Fraud losses by developing, monitoring and maintaining effective fraud detection and prevention strategies. To complement our team of highly capable technical fraud specialists, we are looking for a person with a very good understanding of fraud detection products and tools – but also someone who is operationally experienced in fraud analytics from a wider banking business perspective. Someone who is comfortable presenting strategies, abstract notions and trends as well as numeric data to banking business people and the wider community.

The Senior Fraud Analyst role is critical to making this happen and will include the following key accountabilities:

 

  • Identify and drive the implementation of ‘best practice’ fraud detection techniques 
  • Actively monitor/manage the banks fraud detection tools to ensure timely action is taken to protect the bank and its customers from financial loss
  • Support the detection team’s success by providing regular updates on key observations/knowledge of emerging fraud trends
  • Support the delivery of technology projects and change programs across Personal/Cards and Customer Protection and represent Customer Protection  as a SME/Fraud expert
  • Provide comprehensive, value added, fraud reporting to senior stakeholders on a regular basis
  • Provide ad-hoc fraud reporting to support technology projects and industry benchmarking
  • Liaise with other banks and service providers to keep ahead of what is happening in the fraud world

Ōu Pūkenga? - What will you bring?


 

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Specialist fraud knowledge or previous MIS experience in a BA role
  • Understanding of banking industry processes and operations
  • Operational understanding of Fraud Detection or other Risk-based decision systems
  • An understanding of SQL, MS Tools
  • Demonstrated competency in analysing and evaluating data to determine anomalies and patterns
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the confidence and ability to present to Senior Leaders of ANZ and external parties
  • Impeccable oral and written presentation skills
  • The ability to relay technical information and results in a clear, easy to understand manner to a non-technical audience.
  • Preferably a post graduate qualification in a related field of study (Statistics/ Mathematics)
