Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

At Contact Energy, we are committed to delivering exceptional performance to our shareholders and providing value to our customers. Our strategy involves developing and sourcing competitive energy solutions and related products that meet our customers’ needs more effectively. We focus on adding value to the resources we manage and ensuring the sustainability of our business operations.

As a Process Engineer in the Generation Performance Team, your role will involve assessing and modeling plant performance to maintain efficiency and optimize generation assets for maximum profitability. You will utilize your strong analytical skills to review data and make informed decisions that enhance value for Contact. Key responsibilities include developing asset surveillance systems, assessing processes, creating and operating a Process Model, performing simulations, and recommending improvements. Additionally, you will design, test, and upgrade systems, assist in preparing business cases, build relationships with operations and maintenance teams, and provide technical input to projects and outages.

Qualifications

Ko wai koe | About you

You will have plenty of stories to share where you have played a key role helping organisations run their plant efficiently, ensuring generation assets are optimised.

Business objectives are at the forefront of everything you do. You set clear goals, priorities and measures and take ownership of your work. You are a strategic thinker so you plan for the future. You enjoy developing new plans and strategies to leverage opportunities.

Researching and analysing data is your happy place. You are quick to interpret information and define problems. Not to mention you’re a whizz when it comes to process improvements and developing new tools.

This role has a heavy technical component but it interacts with a wide range of stakeholders so people skills are just as important. You are confident in your ability to influence, lead, and build rapport with others. Effective communication is key - you are skilled at explaining technical terminology in a clear and simple manner so all can understand.

Ideally, you’ll have a Chemical and Process Engineering (BE) or equivalent tertiary degree. If you are working towards your chartership/professional status that will get us excited.

We’re seeking someone who has a few years’ experience working under their belt. You’ll have experience with performance or production system optimisation and improvements, and operational and maintenance support.

Knowledge of process safeguarding, process control systems, and process engineering software packages (e.g. HYSYS) is important too.

If you have worked in the energy sector great but we’re also open to oil & gas and other processing industries too.
