Work Broker, Queen Street – Secondment/Fixed-Term Role to September 2025

What you'll be doing | He aha tāu e mahi ana 
 

You will have the agility to navigate and pursue professional working relationships within the community, building rapport with local businesses and partners to support the local labour workforce in creating sustainable outcomes. 

 

Your primary responsibility is sourcing vacancies and placing clients into these roles so, you'll need to be a real "people person" with excellent communication ability relating to our clients and employers. Experience in employment services or recruitment is advantageous!

 

This role takes a lead in engaging with Health Care, Construction, Retail Trade, Education & Training, Manufacturing, Horticulture and other industries to support engagement and recruitment of our clients into seasonal and permanent opportunities, sourcing clients for recruitment and training programmes, and other labour market activity as required.  

 

•    Work with employers to establish and promote vacancies, complete recruitment process and support induction.  
•    Educate employers on details of our Products and Services.
•    Work with colleagues across the region including Work Brokers and Case Managers, to connect clients to seasonal and permanent work available in the region. 
•    Provide in work support to clients placed in employment. 
•    Ensure that internal systems are kept up to date, recording all interactions with employers and clients.
•    Work with the Labour Market Team to complement Immigration, Skills for Industry and Cadetship work programmes.
•    Support Connected and Service Centre activity, which may include reporting, spread sheet analysis, outbound calling and texting.

•    Proven experience in recruitment, employment services, or a similar role where relationship-building with employers is key.
•    A focus on results with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, job placement targets and an ability to navigate setbacks.
•    Confidence in cold calling, networking, and using technology to source employment opportunities.
•    The ability to identify job opportunities and know what strategies to use to engage employers considering the local labour market.
•    Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively
•    Flexibility to travel within the region to meet employers as required.
