As a member of the APAC IT operations team, this position will be responsible to manage, maintain and support Cubic Customers’ Production, Test and Development Infrastructure supporting client solutions, primarily Windows and Linux, with some work on Solaris and VMware platforms. Adequate knowledge of Azure networking also required.

Job Details:

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:  
 

  • Manage and progress incident tickets and tasks to completion in accordance with SLAs. Escalate to management when SLAs are likely to be breached.  

  • Maintain estate of mission critical servers running customer applications  

  • Analyse and troubleshoot production faults and make recommendations as to the most effective course of action  

  • Provide support to other internal teams, this will include application teams and DBA’s  

  • Proactively monitor Servers and related Infrastructure  

  • Patching and vulnerability remediation 

  • Plan, Document, Communicate and Execute planned changes through the change management process  

  • Provide out of hours support for scheduled work   

  • Provide out of hours for on-call support as part of an on-call roster when necessary

Minimum Job Requirements:  
 
Qualifications 
 
Essential: 
 

  • Degree qualified in information technology or related discipline, or equivalent experience 

  • Industry Certification for Solaris, Linux, Windows, VMware, and/or Networking 

 

 

 

 

Skills/Experience/Knowledge 
 
Essential: 

  • 4+ years of Windows and/or Linux Administration experience, preferably in a medium - large IT environment (no less than 100 servers).  

  • Experience supporting, patching and building VMware ESX environments.  

  • Experience providing high availability services.  

  • Experience supporting and building server operating systems.  

  • Server Backup skills. 

 
Desirable: 

  • Experience Hosting SQL database environments. 

  • Knowledge of LAN and WAN based technologies. 

  • Knowledge of Active Directory. 

  • Knowledge of Solaris. 

  • Knowledge of SAN connectivity to servers. 

  • Knowledge of server and networking protocols (TCP/IP, WINS, DHCP, SMTP, ICMP, ICA, SMB). 

  • Knowledge of operating system hardening. 

  • Scripting (VBS, and PowerShell).

  • This role will require flexibility regarding working hours and location, including weekend and out-of-hours, based in the CBD office, datacenters hosting equipment, and at remote sites.   

  • Possess great verbal and written communication skills.

  • Self-motivated
